Tiger Tops Newsletter – Sept 2025
Dear Friends of Tiger Tops,
As Nepal continues to stabilise following the recent period of political unrest, we are pleased to share that life in the tourism sector continues with cautious optimism. Visitors can currently travel and explore without issue, with transportation links only closing for 48hrs during the protests. We encourage our guests to continue with their plans and experience Nepal’s extraordinary natural and cultural heritage without concern, whilst still continuing to be in touch with our reservations teams for periodic updates.
In exciting news, over the summer months our team has been working hard to further enhance your stay at Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge. We are delighted to announce several exciting upgrades: the addition of a brand new swimming pool, air-conditioning in our Signature Rooms, and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property. These improvements reflect our commitment to combining a first class hospitality experience with our unrivalled wildlife encounters.

Bardia National Park itself continues to attract global attention as one of Asia’s hidden gems for wildlife travel. Recent features in leading international outlets such as the BBC, The Guardian, National Geographic, and Condé Nast Traveller have celebrated Bardia as one of the best places in the world to see wild tigers in their natural habitat. Combined with its tranquil landscapes and the rich Tharu culture of western Nepal, Bardia offers a truly unique and authentic safari experience away from the crowds.
Tiger Tops offers tailor-made safaris for each guest, offering a combination of vintage Land Rover, walking and boat safaris as well as more adventurous options such as camping within the core area of the park and the unrivalled Babai River float trip into one of the Terai jungle’s last frontiers. For more information please contact our reservations team.

Meanwhile, at our Tharu Lodge in Chitwan, our elephants continue to be the heart of the experience for many of our guests. Each day begins with the elephants heading into the forest to forage, accompanied by our mahouts, and afternoons are often spent cooling off in the river where guests can observe their joyful bathing rituals over a refreshing sundowner. Gentle matriarch Hira Kali still leads the herd with calm authority, while young Kailash Prasad brings energy and playfulness to the group.
This year, we were also delighted to welcome Stand Up 4 Elephants to Tharu Lodge. A Belgian NGO, founded by a team of dedicated biologists and conservationists, is dedicated to improving the welfare of captive elephants in Nepal through better management practices, veterinary care, and awareness programmes and currently look after two elephants, Eva and Lhamo. Together, we are working to set new standards of ethical elephant welfare practices in Nepal. We wish Floriane, Annik, Michael and their team a warm welcome to the Tiger Tops family.

We look forward to hosting you soon at both of our properties and sharing with you the beauty of Nepal’s wilderness and the warmth of Tiger Tops hospitality. Together with our sister concern Mountain Travel Nepal (Nepal’s original trekking company) we hope that you visit Nepal at a time when you are needed the most.
Warm regards,
The Tiger Tops Management Team
