About Us

Pioneering environmentally responsible tourism

Since day one, Tiger Tops has been synonymous with conservation.

Over the past 50 years our core ethos of responsible tourism has stood us in good stead. We are a family-run business and many of our staff have been with us all their working lives. We promote conservation awareness at all of our properties and aim to have the least possible impact on the surrounding environment. We want to ensure our legacy is sustainable and thus we engage readily with local communities by providing jobs, skills training, and education and health facilities. We consider ourselves to offer a luxury adventure experience. Not luxury in the ‘gold taps’ sense of the word; rather our aim is to transport our guests to remote and beautiful parts of this extraordinary country and allow them to experience the environment at its most natural. We believe in good food and comfortable rooms, but above all we believe in great staff – its them who will bring the experience alive for you.
Tiger Tops is the first operation in Nepal to provide a truly ethical elephant experience. The welfare of our elephants is our primary concern and we strive to give you the most natural and educational elephant encounter without compromising the wellbeing of these majestic creatures.

Testimonials

  • "Magical stay in Chitwan National Park"

Loved my stay. The food was delicious, the communal vibe was lovely and they catered to my food allergies without any fuss. The safari tent was luxurious and the elephants are well looked after as is the whole venue. Not a plastic bottle or single use paper towel in sight which I adored.
  • "The experience of a lifetime "

I had a truly wonderful stay! The staffs were warm and friendly and our guide on the safaris communicated loads about the wildlife of the area. I was lucky enough to see a tiger, several rhinos, monkeys and deer. I shall definitely be back to try to see a sloth bear! I spent a lot of time with the elephants and it was heart-warming to see how well taken care of they are. The elephant trek and elephant sandwich making (elephant camp visit) is an absolute must! I also really enjoyed seeing the organic farm where food is grown for the lodge. I had such a great time and I can't wait to go again!
  • "Excellent 3 Day Get-Away"

This place is a gem!!! Excellent service, comfortable rooms and excellent staff. My wife and I spent 3 nights here after I did the Everest Base Camp trek. The room was extremely comfortable and well laid out. Our naturalist who guided us in the Bardiya National Park was extremely knowledgeable and worked so hard to give us an experience of a lifetime. The cuisine was excellent and the staff so accommodating. Excellent service all around and will definitely return in the future
  • "An authentic natural experience"

It’s difficult to capture the Tiger Tops experience in a few mere words, on so many different levels an incredibly unique experience from the elegance of elephants to warmth of geniue heartfelt hospitality. You sense that Tiger Tops are really leading the way in terms of sustainable nature based tourism with importantly a real connection with the local villagers. There support to the local school typifies this connection. Coming from an Australian national parks background, Jack and his team are to be commended. Brilliant. An outstanding experience
  • "Absolutely the best lodge in the world!"

We spent New Years 2020 with family and friends @ Tiger Tops Karnali, and it was a trip never to forget. From the jeep safaris to the excellent service, there is no comparison to any other lodge in Nepal, and perhaps the world (I've been to several around the globe). Starting out as tiger-hunting camp founded by two Texans, this camp has grown into anti an eco-friendly place that strives to preserve nature by any means possible - including no-elephant riding and just a little carbon footprint. The guides are knowledgable, speak perfect English, and always carry a bird book. They know the forest well, and excursions into the park are just magical. Walks outside the camp are just as interesting, as an authentic Tharu village is just outside the gate. I've been living in Nepal for 20 years now (been all over the place on motorbike) and this is by far my favorite place to stop.
  • "A lifelong dream come true"

I've dreamed about coming to Chitwan National Park since I first heard about it over 30 years ago, and following Tiger Tops leading the way in care and protection for elephants within the tourist industry I knew there was nowhere else to stay! The serene atmosphere, attentive and professional staff, delicious food, and unique activities exceeded all my high hopes and expectations. Best of all was walking with elephants and watching them bathe in the river at sunset, learning to make their snacks from the mahouts and even being allowed to feed them, and going on a jeep safari where we saw lots of birds and animals in their natural environment - just magical! Our guide throughout everything was naturalist Puspa who was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and great fun to be with. We learned so much! We will never forget our experiences at Tiger Tops. Thank you to Puspa and all the staff for making our stay so special
